Generally speaking, I think $500 is ...Hi Christine! Generally speaking, I think $500 is a good starting price for a book cover for a beginning professional. Self-pub authors usually can't pay that much, so if you want to offer them a lower price, that's your choice. Small publishing companies should be able to pay between $500-$1000. I speak from an American perspective; if you're outside the USA then prices may be different. (And from what I've heard, probably lower.)Kelleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04125779342541236588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-717652999506699201.post-71087565003924900742018-01-23T19:27:19.108-08:002018-01-23T19:27:19.108-08:00This is WONDERFUL, Kelley! Would you happen to have any information on the fees for cover art? I don't want to undercut the market, for many of the reasons you noted above, but nor do I want to overestimate my "worth" (as someone with some skills to hone). Thanks bunches!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03729618978439678013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-717652999506699201.post-13595200222122722702018-01-11T02:53:55.288-08:002018-01-11T02:53:55.288-08:00Thank you Kelley, this is so helpful! Your article is an excellent guide for me and illustrators that are in my same situation. I think I couldn't see very well the entire scenario.
